*Who and what is Mahram?*

Mahram means that person with whom nikaah is permanently haram, maybe b due to family, in laws or milk relation. These include brother sister, niece nephew (both sides) and their respective children, father and mother in law, sister's husband, daughter in law. All these are Mahram.

Also, it must be condition and confirmed that they are trustworthy, intelligent, grown up and pose no danger and harm to women.

📙Fatwa rahimiyah, kitabul fiqah, muallimul hujjaj.

For women, her aunt husband (mothers sister), uncle( fathers sisters husband), husbands niece nephews, sisters husband, brother in law (younger then husband, older than husband) are not Mahram. Similarly,for males his aunt (fathers brother wife), mothers brother wife, brothers wife, wife's sister cannot be considered Mahram. This is because in case of demise of uncle or brother, after completion of iddah, can marry their respective wives. Also, after the death or divorce, he can marry his wife sister. Hence, they are all considered non Mahram and it is compulsory to be shield  (pardah) from them.
