*RULING REGARDING DIWALI AND NEW YEAR GREETINGS*
⭕Today's Question no. 1146⭕
If it is not permissible to offer Diwali greetings, how to I greet my colleagues at work? If I don't do so, they feel bad, what is a possible solution to this?
🔵Answer🔵
There are two reasons why greetings is not allowed. First, showing respect towards their festival and Second, following what they do.
Therefore, with the feeling of knowing that the festival is wrong, greetings can be conveyed in such a way that neither their festival is respected neither you have any love towards it. For eg. Saying May this Diwali you succeed in everything you do. And hoping that they find and seek the right path.
Or May this New year bring prosperity both here and hereafter. Or telling them that May this Diwali brighten your future.
However, it is better to avoid it and not to worry about their feelings and follow the teachings of Shariah, and Allah swt will make them happy even if temporarily they feel bad.
