What is the ruling regarding cleaning up and painting of house by Muslims during Diwali imitating Non Muslims?

If the intention is to respect their religion, and to celebrate it, it is not permissible. However, if the intention is for cleaning and renovation, it is better to be done after Diwali in order to avoid imitating Non Muslims.
