What is the fazeelah regarding Shabe Meraaj? What prayers should be performed on it?

It has been rumoured that 27 of Rajab is Shab-e-Meraj is to be spent praying in such a manner as Shab-e-Qadr and the fazeelah of it is similar to that of Shab-e-Qadr. In fact I read somewhere that fazeelah of Shab-e-Meraj is greater than that of Shab-e-Qadr.
And the is belief that certain types of Salah has to performed at night with following rakaat reciting following following surah etc. Allah swt knows how this details got distributed amongst people. All is has nothing to do with Shariah.

Difference in date of Shab-e-Meraj

First of all, there is no clear evidence that 27 RAJAB for sure is the night when Prophet Muhammed sallahu alayhi wasallam had undertaken the journey of MERAAJ, because there is a variation regarding it. According to certain details, it is said that the journey was undertaken in the month of RABI UL AWWAL, and others, in the month of RAJAB. Also, it has also been mentioned other months. There fore, we cannot say for sure, when Prophet Muhammed sallahu alayhi wasallam has had the journey of MERAAJ.

Why is the exact date of the event of Meraj not known?

One can figure out from this itself that if Shab-e-Meraj was similar to that of Shab-e-Qadr, then as the details of Shab-e-Qadr are known, the details of Shab-e-Meraj would also have been known. However, since the importance of preserving the date hasn't been found,  it is not right to declare 27 Rajab as Shab-e-Meraj.
