*Operation of whife*

I have been blessed with four kids and my wife is very weak. When pregnant, her feet and entire body gets swollen, breathlessness and I worry for her life. Doctors have suggested about me undergoing vasectomy or fallopian tube tying operation for my wife. What is the shariah ruling for this?

To completely eliminate the chance of producing next generations, is a way to be ungrateful to Allah swt's blessings. Qur'an and hadith has strictly prohibited against it. The mentioned symptoms are common during pregnancy, and therefore focus should be on how to treat them. And on treatment, it is permissible to use medications to temporarily avoid pregnancies. To eliminate childbirth permanently is strictly prohibited anf haraam and is not allowed.
