TIME AND IMPORTANCE OF LAILATUL QADR

What is Shab-e-Qadr? When is it and what is to be done in these nights?

It is mentioned by Allah swt in the Holy Qur'an

" And indeed we have sent the Qur'an in shabe Qadr, and how will you know what shabe Qadr is?"

"Shabe Qadt is better than a thousand months"

📖 Surah Qadr 97, ayat 1-5.

In one long hadith, Prophet Muhammed sallahu alayhi wasallam has said that there is a night in this month which is better than a thousand months. One who does not utilise its worth will be at a loss of every thing good.

THE TIME OF LAILATUL QADR

The nights of LAILATUL QADR should be searched among the last ten odd nights of Ramadan. To assume that it is on 27 is not right as it can be on any of the odd nights as mentioned in Hadith. It is therefore required to spend quality time in Ibaadat in all nights. If one perform Ibaadat from Magrib prayers upto 12:30 am, it will also be considered sufficient.

It has been mentioned by Haz. Aysha razi'allahu anhu that Prophet Muhammed sallahu alayhi wasallam said 'Find the night of Laylatul Qadr in the odd nights of last ten days of Ramadan'.

📙 Sahih al Bukhari, hadith 2017.

To Encourage family members to enhance ibaadat in the last ten days of Ramadan is important :

It means not only you, but also children and family should be informed and encouraged about it.

According to Hazrat Aysha razi'allahu anhu with comparison to other times would spent more amount of time in Ibaadat during the last ten days.

📙Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 1, Book 7, Hadith 1767 (sahih)

According to Hazrat Aysha razi'allahu anhu during the last twn days of Ramadan, Prophet Muhammed sallahu alayhi wasallam would get engrossed in Ibaadat (stop visiting wives), stay awake during nights and keep family awake.

According to Abu Huraira razi'allahu Prophet Muhammed sallahu alayhi wasallam said that "Whoever with the rightful intention of Sawaab (reward), stays awake and stays in ibaadat, has all his previous sins forgiven".

📙Sahi al Bukhari, hadith 2014.

Of all the ibaadat performed in the nights of Laylatul Qadr, the best is Taweel qayam, however who cannot do so, can read the Holy Qur'an, Salatul tasbeeh, zikr and remembrance of Allah swt.
