What is the ruling regarding wearing Santa Claus costume during fashion show at a school? Many Muslim students also wear the cap of Santa. Is it permitted?

🔵 Answer 🔵

In Islam, it is not permissible to imitate any non Muslims. According to Hadith, if one imitates them, then on the Day of Judgement, he will be categorised with them.

Christmas is a festival of Christians and wearing the costume of Santa is a tradition of their religion. It is not permitted to dress our children in Santa's costume nor let them wear Santa cap because the children will relate with them and Parents will be held responsible for not teaching them the right ways and hence must be avoided.

Merry Christmas means "Congratulations for being blessed a son to God". What is the ruling regarding saying it?

🔵Answer🔵

Merry means happiness, Christ means Jesus and mass means gathering. The entire word means "gathering for celebrating birth of Jesus Christ". The one you mentioned is not its meaning. However, wishing someone Merry Christmas more or less means the same thing. The one qho says it will not be considered Kaafir or Mushrik, however there is a danger of saying words which is not allowed and imitating them and hence better to avoid it as he will be considered to commit a major sin.
