*TYPES AND WAY OF AETIKAF*

What is Aetekaf? What are the different types of it? And what is the right way of Aetikaf for women?

🔵 Answer 🔵

- The stay in mosque by men where all the five daily prayers is called upon by Jam'aat is known as Aetekaf.

- Women are supposed to sit for Aetekaf at home.

- If there is no specific place of (mosque) at home, she should opt for one specific corner at home.

- It is simple for women to sit in Aetikaf as compared to men as in she can take care of the house by giving instructions to daughter/ girls and gain reward (sawab) too.

- After all these facilities, women do not seem to take advantage of this sunnah

There are three conditions of Aetekaf in accordance with Hanfiyyah

1. Wahib Aetekaf, such that on conditions like if certain thing is done/happen I will sit for Aetekaf, or saying that I will sit for wajib Aetekaf for designated days. It is wajib to sit for Aetekaf for the days intention has been made.

2. Sunnate Muakkadah alal kifayah Aetekaf, it means that in the entire society, if no one sits for Aetekaf the society as a whole will be sinful. Hence, to sit on Aetekaf in any mosque of the society is necessary.

This is for the last ten days of Ramadan. Prophet Muhammad sallalahu alaihi wasalam used to sit for Aetekaf during the last 10 days.

3. Nafl Aetekaf, the4e is no designated time, can sit for as long as the person wishes/ wants. In fact, one can make intention for entire lifetime.

-According to  Shagird (student) of Imam Abu Haneefa r.a. Imaam Muhammad rh. It is also jaiz (allowed) to perform Aetekaf for small time,hence it is better for every Muslim to make intention of Aetekaf on entering Masjid, so whatever time os spent in the mosque, he will gain rewards for it as in Aetekaf.
