A. What are the rulings on celebrations and giving gifts on birthdays ?

★ Celebrating birthdays is a culture adopted by Christians and Jews and is against shariah and non-permissible , we must not imitate their way of life.
★ It is not permitted to accept invitations to birthday celebrations, because this involves supporting and encouraging bid’ah and extravagance. Giving gifts is a good thing but it is bidah when specifically given on birthdays,
★ if you receive invitation for birthday celebrations, it is better to ignore them in a way they are not emotionally hurt,
⇨ one may feel strange to ignore them since this culture has taken place in our hearts,
Islam and its discipline is vanished.
